How Matching Works

Discover how Chorvia creates meaningful conversation groups tailored to your interests and preferences.

Our Matching Philosophy

Chorvia's matching algorithm is designed to create small, meaningful conversation groups where everyone feels heard and engaged. We balance similarity and diversity to spark interesting discussions while ensuring everyone has common ground.

Our Goal: Create groups of 3-5 people who will have engaging, valuable conversations together.

Factors We Consider

Our algorithm analyzes multiple dimensions to create balanced groups:

1. Shared Interests

We match you with people who selected similar topics in their preferences. This ensures you'll have common ground for discussion.

2. Availability

Groups are formed based on overlapping availability. We'll only match you with people who are free at the same times you are.

3. Diversity Preferences

Based on your "Who to Talk To" preferences, we balance:

  • Similar backgrounds vs. diverse perspectives
  • Same industry vs. cross-functional connections
  • Experience levels and seniority

4. Previous Connections

We avoid repeatedly matching you with the same people (unless specifically requested) to help you build a broader network.

5. Group Size

We aim for groups of 3-5 people. This size is optimal for:

  • Everyone having time to contribute
  • Multiple perspectives without being overwhelming
  • Building genuine connections

The Matching Process

  1. Data Collection: We gather your preferences, availability, and profile information
  2. Pool Formation: We create pools of users with overlapping availability
  3. Compatibility Scoring: Our algorithm scores potential group combinations based on all factors
  4. Group Creation: We form groups with the highest compatibility scores
  5. Schedule Confirmation: We propose times and confirm everyone's availability
  6. Notification: You receive your match and meeting details

Matching Frequency

Matching frequency depends on your preferences:

  • Weekly: New matches every week
  • Bi-weekly: New matches every two weeks
  • Monthly: New matches once a month

Note: You can skip a matching cycle anytime by updating your availability in your preferences.

Improving Your Matches

Get better matches by:

  • Selecting multiple topics of interest (3-5 is ideal)
  • Being flexible with your availability
  • Keeping your profile up to date
  • Providing feedback after conversations
  • Being specific about who you want to talk to

What If I Don't Like My Match?

If a match doesn't feel right:

  • You can skip a session without penalty
  • Update your preferences to improve future matches
  • Provide feedback to help our algorithm learn
  • Contact support if you have specific concerns

For Organizations

Organization administrators can influence matching by:

  • Creating custom groups manually
  • Setting department or team preferences
  • Specifying cross-functional priorities
  • Reviewing and approving matches before they're finalized
